Travel back in time now to around August 2007, yes that's right the month where Look For It Buscalo had a few problems getting the magazine delivered on time and despite all of our efforts, a two week delay sent all of our hard work that month into a downward spiral.
Never mind, as we explained it gave us time to sit back, assess the situation and come back with vengence, which included cheaper advertising rates, massive distribution and in the long term more clients for all of our advertisers.
Unfortunately that was not good enough for Mr Gordon Osborne in Vlllar Del Arzobispo, owner of Patio Del Karen. Despite offering our apologies and a larger advertisement as compensation, Mr Osborne thought he would take matters into his own hands!
It was late last year that the phone calls started to come into the office, you know the sort of thing waiting until the person answered the phone and then immediately banging the phone down or keeping very quiet whilst the person at the other end gets frustrated - not realising that when we really get fed up with the antics we put the phone on mute and leave it on the office desk - play games during business hours expect to get a large phone bill! Childs play I know, but there you go, the show must go on and these minor irritations did not deter us!
Then came the threats, calls on the mobile with promises of broken legs and visits to the office or home etc. Unpeturbed we carried on and ignored these calls making a note each time of the date and time of the call. One such phone call was even put on loudspeaker and was heard by a group of very entertained guests sitting with us.
Well what sort of idiot gets a kick out of these things - Mr Osborne, it seems! Hang on, it doesn't stop there. Whilst dealing with a close friend who had been admitted to hospital in Valencia, our sales manager was left to handle the office single handedly. Low and behold, you've guessed, threatening phone calls to the staff was the order of the day.
I'm going to come round to your office and break your bosses neck! How very professional! Unfortunately this was very unnerving for her and she was left very upset and needed to leave the office and go home.
This is of course to be expected, she's on her own and she had received a very abusive and threatening phone call from a man whom she has done no harm to whatsoever. But no, it gets worse....Realising that he is not getting a reaction from the owners' he then decides to make his next phone call and actually threatens the children!
Informing us that he knew where the children went to school and he was going to be there one day. So what do you do...Well initial reactions - I'm afraid I cannot print - but being the sensible people we are our first port of call was our Solicitor who sent us straight down to the Guardia Civil to make a statement.
Now, picture it, 3 children below the age of 13, one only 6, an extremely irate father, a very worried mother not daring to tell the children that this psycho was making these threats. Bring on the Guardia Civil!
So after the statements, came the visit, and after the visit came the court case with not just one judge but 3 and witnesses thrown in for good measure! So you may ask, why are we making this public knowledge, well in normal circumstances we would let sleeping dogs lie but Mr Osborne seems to want to carry his vendetta on and voice his lies to anyone that cares to listen.
So let us put the record straight Despite what you are told by Mr Osborne -
a) We have successfully taken him to court and won the proceedings with costs awarded
b) We do not want Mr Osborne's business and will not take any further advertisement bookings from him and
c) It is our choice not to distribute to his bar as we believe our magazine should be in more worthwhile places where people will appreciate the content and the quality. You will find the magazine in many other outlets In the Vlllar Del Arzobispo area.
d) If Mr Osborne continues to make slanderous comments and false claims that he has taken us to court we will gather all of those witnesses and ask for a further judgement of slander.
Above you will find copies of the court judgements, we have had the blessing from the courts and our Solicitor to publicise this article and the documents. Let's just say you've now seen it in black and white oh and full colour, and it's in 20,000 copies of Look For It Buscalo plus on the website as well!
Now, lets drop it Mr Osborne before you get out of your depth!
